GOAL: As a result of this training, students will understand the mission as a chaplain.

TRAINING OBJECTIVE: Upon successful completion of this topic, the student will be able to:

  1. Understand the mission of a chaplain.
  2. Know the Code of Ethics and pledge to live by the chaplains Code of Ethics
  3. Articulate the constitutional privilege of freedom of religion and the rise of chaplains.
  4. Pray publicly using disclaimers.
  5. Understand that chaplaincy is an Inclusive Ministry.

TRAINING OBJECTIVE: Upon successful completion of this training, the student will be able to:

  1. Understand the importance of confidentiality and know the ramifications of violation of confidentiality.
  2. Understand the “sanctity of the confessional.”
  3. Identify the signs of depression and suicide and how to help victims.
  4. Handle counseling sessions in the workplace with ease.
  5. Know how to work with the ESP – (Employee Service Person) for the success of the employees and the entire organization.

Clinical Chaplaincy Goal and Training Objectives

GOAL: As a result of this training, students will be exposed to a number of issues that are foundational to successful ministry in hospitals and clinics, counseling centers, nursing homes and hospice care.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this topic, the student will be able to:

  1. Discuss the clinical environment, to include the patients and social services.
  2. Understand the meaning of "Presence Ministry."

3) Articulate the art of caring concept of "Listening as Communication."

Law Enforcement Chaplaincy Goal and Training Objectives

GOAL: As a result of this training, students will gain an understanding of the minimum standards required for endorsement or certification as a Law Enforcement (LE) Chaplain.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this topic, the student will be able to:

  1. Understand Emergency Services Personnel and why they do what they do.
  2. Discuss the "Shoot to Live" Policy and "Line of Duty Death Notification" Policy.
  3. Explain the chaplain's place when assisting in various domestic violence calls.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of the chaplain's role in LE activities such as a misdemeanor stop, felony stop, training, etc.

Jail and Prison Chaplaincy Goal and Training Objectives

GOAL: As a result of this training, students will gain an understanding of the importance of this ministry and comprehend the "tightrope" they must walked to successfully minister to inmates and "free world" people in the jail and prison systems.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this topic, the student will be
able to:

  1. Discuss the function of the Jail and Prison Chaplain.
  2. Find practical ways to compare this ministry with the ministry of Jesus.
  3. Explain various profiles of volunteer workers and Community Service Chaplains.
  4. Articulate what it means to be a Jail and Prison Chaplain, to include the benefits and areas to be concerned about.
